Liminal Flicker
“The scariest moment is always just before you start. After that, things can only get better.”
― Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
Beginnings can feel so awkward. How do I begin writing a blog for a podcast that hasn’t launched yet, which means there’s no one to address in the first place?
Perhaps I’m thinking about this the wrong way.
Perhaps this is past me writing to future you.
As I’m writing this, you aren’t here yet. You don’t even know that this place exists. But I hope that’s about to change, that while I’m standing at this threshold alone, because beginnings are often solitary places, we’ll soon find each other in this twilit space created just for us.
Past me is writing this for future you so that you’ll feel welcome, because you are. Whether you’re someone who also feels invisible in face of the relentless heteronormativity of the world or someone who enjoys listening to atmospheric, spooky storytelling (or both!), I hope you’ll feel at home here and invite others to come join us.
And if you’d like to learn more about me, this podcast, and why I created it, please listen to Episode 1 of Liminal Flares, “A Prelude at the Threshold.”
